5 K-Pop Idols Pioneering The ‘Lingerie’ Fashion Trend Right Now
According to the world of fashion, underwear no longer has to be kept under your clothes. The “lingerie look”—wearing undergarments as typical fashion pieces—is gaining traction in South Korea, and idols are among those making it big. In a field where women are often scrutinized for how they dress, these # female K-Pop stars are trailblazing the lingerie as fashion trend without worrying about what anyone else says.
1. Yeri (Red Velvet)
The slip is one of the main pieces spearheading the lingerie trend. Slips are form-fitting dresses with thin straps and a “sexy” shape. Traditionally, they were worn under dresses; now, they’re being worn as dresses. Balmain and Alexander Wang both included them in recent collections.
Red Velvet’s Yeri is one of the idols showing off the slip style. Her long satin-and-lace slip dress from PINKO had Greek statues printed on the front, bringing an artsy feel to the trend. It was paired with an abstract print trench coat from the same brand, showing that you don’t have to show skin to rock this style.
2. Chungha
Chungha also rocked a slip in a recent photoshoot for Singles Magazine’s April 2020 issue. She wore this lilac slip dress with a blazer jacket for a trendy feminine-meets-masculine look.
Alongside that, Chungha has shown off another side of the lingerie look trend—lingerie meets formalwear. This style has been seen on the runway with Michael Kors, Gucci, and more. Chungha tried it out when she wore a bra top under a sparkling suit at the 2019 SBS Gayo Daejeon.
3. Hyuna
Another idol showing the public a unique way of wearing slips is soloist Hyuna. Normally, a sheer slip like this would definitely be considered lingerie because of its see-through fabric.
But in a shoot for Dazed, Hyuna makes this floral embroidered slip the perfect everyday piece by wearing it over a t-shirt. The result is a bright yet casual look.
4. Jennie
BLACKPINK‘s Jennie shows off yet another side of this trend: lingerie as athleisure-wear. Alexander Wang and GCDS both included this trend in recent collections, and now Jennie is showing it off too.
In a pictorial for Calvin Klein, Jennie wore a sports bralet from the brand under a denim dungaree dress, showing a comfortable look that’s great for warmer weather.
5. Seolhyun (AOA)
AOA‘s Seolhyun has been showing off her amazing body line in this style too. Here, she wore a tight Nike bralet with sweatpants.
The addition of a jacket shows this is a style that’s meant to be worn out and about, not just in a home gym.
