While using wigs in K-Pop often earns mixed opinions, especially when done poorly, there are a few cases where they’ve almost fooled fans. See four idols who pulled them off so well that everyone couldn’t initially decide if they were fake.
1. IVE’s Jang Wonyoung
In preparation for IVE’s “Either Way” comeback, Jang Wonyoung shocked everyone by appearing with blonde hair for the first time. Although it seemed real, fans became suspicious when they realized all of the photos were cropped below her hairline.
After the release of behind-the-scenes clips, it was confirmed that Jang Wonyoung’s blonde hair was indeed a wig.
She even debuted her new bangs on her natural hair shortly afterward.
2. VIXX’s N
During VIXX’s “ETERNITY” promotions, fans fell in love with N’s dirty blond hair.
And throughout promotions, no one suspected it wasn’t his natural hair. At least, until he revealed the truth.
Despite how powerfully N moved his head around while dancing, he’d been wearing a wig the whole time—still shocking fans years later. The idol was filming a drama and couldn’t bleach his real hair.
3. NewJeans’ Hanni
As NewJeans’ Hanni attended events in Milan, Italy, and graced the cover of Vogue Korea magazine, she surprised fans with pale blonde hair and hime-style bangs.
Although minor details gave away that it was a wig, fans couldn’t help praising their hairstylist for making it look so realistic and natural.
Proving that it was only a look for special occasions, Hanni traveled to and from Italy with her long hair and curtain bangs.
4. 2PM’s Junho
The final idol that nearly fooled fans was 2PM’s Junho. He debuted a lovely shade of purple hair for the group’s “GO CRAZY!” promotions. Although his hair looked natural, there were moments when fans began to suspect otherwise.
There were rare moments when darker hair would peek out, with Junho casually fixing it.
Like VIXX’s N, Junho was filming the drama Twenty at the time and couldn’t bleach his real hair. So he opted for a wig, which the 2PM members hilariously showed off.
