8 Of NCT Doyoung’s Favorite Korean Dramas And Movies
After making his own acting debut in Café Midnight 3: The Curious Stalker and preparing to star in another, NCT‘s Doyoung chatted with W Korea magazine to share seven of his favorite Korean dramas and his favorite movie of all time.
1. The Lady in Dignity
The first drama Doyoung chose was 2017’s The Lady in Dignity, which follows the life of a rich woman as it gets turned upside down by a mysterious woman who becomes the caregiver for her father-in-law.
‘The Lady in Dignity’ actually motivated my life and I recommended that drama to my mother. I personally learned many life lessons from Kim Hee Sun’s attitude in the drama.

2. Misty
Naming another JTBC drama, he enjoyed 2018’s suspenseful Misty. A husband comes to his wife’s defense when she’s suspected of murder, rebuilding their marriage and figuring out what truly happened along the way.
3. Be Melodramatic
Doyoung couldn’t go without including 2019’s romantic comedy Be Melodramatic which stars his brother Gong Myung. The group of thirty-something friends pursue different careers but come together to support each other in love and dreams.
4. When The Camellia Blooms
Starring Gong Hyo Jin and Kang Ha Neul, 2019’s When The Camellia Blooms is about a woman who grows up as an orphan and becomes a single mom. She then falls in love with a police officer and tries to navigate life with a serial killer on the loose. It’s such an emotional drama even Doyoung cried at the end.
The ending scene from the [last] episode of ‘When The Camellia Blooms’ always makes me cry. …I watch that episode when I feel like crying. When I feel sad, I don’t try to hold back my tears.

5. Mine
Two women marry into the same chaebol (family-owned conglomerate) family in 2021’s Mine but do whatever it takes to maintain their true selves and seek the happiness they deserve.
6. Search: WWW
Keeping the trend of strong female leads going, Doyoung chose 2019’s Search: WWW. The drama follows three women who work at the most successful web portal companies as they achieve their goals and run into a little bit of romance along the way.
7. Crash Landing on You
Like many K-Drama viewers, Doyoung fell in love with 2019’s Crash Landing on You after watching it recently and seeing the chemistry between the newly married leads Hyun Bin and Son Ye Jin. Not only do viewers get to see the plot of a South Korean heiress receiving protection from a North Korean soldier after an accident, but they also get to see the actors fall in love as well.
In the drama, Hyun Bin gets drunk and says, ‘I wish I could see you get older and raise children.’
In that romantic scene, I thought, ‘Wait, they are getting married next month!’ And, I was so excited about that fact. I just fell in love with that drama.

8. Snowpiercer
Before the success of the highly-regarded movie Parasite, Bong Joon Ho‘s 2013 movie Snowpiercer became a favorite for many—and still is for Doyoung. Using some of the same themes as Parasite, the lowest class plans a takeover to receive better treatment aboard the train that’s keeping everyone safe after the Earth’s second ice age.
