9 “Produce X 101” Contestants Who Finally Debuted This Year

It’s been a long two years, but these stars are finally getting to show their talent.

It’s already been over two years since Mnet’s Produce X 101 ended, but many of the show’s contestants are still blazing their path to stardom. In fact, these nine all finally made their debut in rookie boy groups this year.

1. Son Dongpyo

Son Dongpyo ranked 6th in the Produce X 101 finale with 2,762,824 votes, making it into the final lineup of X1 before their untimely disbandment.

This year, he re-debuted in DSP Media’s new boy group, MIRAE. Now 19 years old, Dongpyo is MIRAE’s lead dancer and sub vocalist.

MIRAE made their debut with “Killa” on March 17, 2021. Their most recent song, “Splash,” has 19 million views on YouTube, while their latest album (Splash) sold 46,274 copies on Hanteo in its first week.

2. Keum Donghyun

Keum Donghyun was eliminated in the finale episode of Produce X 101 with 1,902,728 votes, ranking 17th overall. However, when Mnet’s vote manipulation scandal came to light, it was revealed that Keum Donghyun actually ranked 8th according to the real vote statistics, which would’ve made him a member of X1.

This year, he debuted in C9 Entertainment’s new boy group, EPEX. Now 18 years old, Keum Donghyun goes by the stage name Keum as EPEX’s rapper, main dancer, and center.

EPEX made their debut with “Lock Down” on June 8, 2021. Their most recent song, “Do 4 Me,” has 16 million views on YouTube, while their latest album (Bipolar Pt.2 – Prelude of Love) sold 70,003 copies on Hanteo in its first week.

3. Moon Hyunbin

Moon Hyunbin was eliminated in episode 8 of Produce X 101 with 350,389 votes, ranking 32nd overall.

This year, he debuted in Rain Company’s new boy group, CIIPHER, managed by K-Pop legend Rain. Now 21 years old, Hyunbin is CIIPHER’s leader.

CIIPHER made their debut with “I Like You” on March 15, 2021. Their most recent song, “Blind,” has 7.2 million views on YouTube, while their latest album (Blind) sold 17,292 copies on Hanteo in its first week.

4. Hidaka Mahiro

Hidaka Mahiro was eliminated in episode 8 of Produce X 101 with 205,369 votes, ranking 49th overall.

Formerly a YG Entertainment trainee, 20-year-old Mahiro debuted this year in Dream Passport’s new J-Pop boy group, BUGVEL.

BUGVEL released their first single, “WARNING,” on October 27, 2021, but the group doesn’t yet have a music video or album.

5. Wang Jyunhao

Wang Jyunhao was eliminated in episode 8 of Produce X 101 with 150,579 votes, ranking 58th overall.

Also a former YG Entertainment trainee, the 21-year-old debuted alongside Mahiro in BUGVEL this year. He now goes by the stage name Guno.

6. Jung Youngbin

Jung Youngbin was eliminated in episode 5 of Produce X 101, ranking 68th overall.

This year, he debuted in WIP Company’s new boy group, LUMINOUS. Now 23 years old, Youngbin is LUMINOUS’s leader, main dancer, and lead vocalist.

LUMINOUS made their debut with “RUN” on September 9, 2021, which currently has 10 million views on YouTube.

7. Steven Kim

Steven Kim was eliminated in episode 5 of Produce X 101, ranking 72nd overall.

This year, he also debuted in WIP Company’s new boy group, LUMINOUS. Now 21 years old, Steven is LUMINOUS’s vocalist and rapper.

8. Choi Jinhwa

Choi Jinhwa was eliminated in episode 5 of Produce X 101, ranking 74th overall.

This year, he debuted in WUZO Entertainment’s new boy group, BLITZERS. Now 19 years old, Jinhwa is BLITZERS’ leader, rapper, and dancer.

BLITZERS made their debut with Blitz on May 12, 2021. Their most recent title track, “Will Make a Mistake,” has 9.2 million views on YouTube, while their latest album (Seat-Belt) sold 31,657 copies on Hanteo in its first week.

9. Lee Junhyuk

Lee Junhyuk was eliminated in episode 5 of Produce X 101, ranking 75th overall.

This year, he debuted in DSP Media’s new boy group, MIRAE. Now 21 years old, Junhyuk is MIRAE’s leader, main dancer, and lead rapper.
