Today, the Recording Academy live-streamed their nominations announcement for the upcoming 2022 GRAMMYs Awards show (also known as the 64th GRAMMY Awards).

BTS’s “Butter” was announced as a nominee for “Best Pop Duo/Group Performance.” They are included with Coldplay‘s “Higher Power,” “Kiss Me More” by Doja Cat featuring SZA, “I Get a Kick Out of You” by Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga, and “Lonely” by Justin Bieber and Benny Blanco.

Unfortunately, this is the only one of all of BTS’s submissions to be accepted this year. ARMYs had hoped that BTS would have been nominated for “Best Music Video” with “Permission to Dance, “Album of the Year” with BE, “Best Pop Vocal Album” with BE, “Engineered Non-Classical” with BE, “Record of the Year” for “Butter.”

Despite the Recording Academy introducing new categories this year, the results were underwhelming. With the introduction of “Best Global Music Performance” (Global Music Field) and “Best Música Urbana Album” (Latin Music Field), there were now 88 categories. Still, K-Pop remains unrecognized.

Last year, BTS was entered to be nominated in three categories for their 2020 album MAP OF THE SOUL: 7 (“Album of the Year,” “Best Engineered Album, Non-Classical,” and “Best Pop Vocal Album”). They were also entered to be nominated for “Song of the Year,” “Record of the Year,” “Best Music Video,” and “Best Pop Duo/Group Performance” for their BE single, “Dynamite.”

Still, we’re incredibly proud of BTS for all they’ve accomplished! So well-deserved. They’re always winners to us.
