Accommodations Near PSY’s Concert Venue Double Their Prices — It Raises Eyebrows And Criticism
PSY is known for his legendary summer concerts, and many are excited for this year’s SUMMER SWAG 2023.
PSY will be visiting various parts of South Korea with his SUMMER SWAG 2023 tour. On July 8, the concert will be held in Wonju, the city approximately 87 miles east of Seoul. The city of Wonju and concert organizers expect around 20,000 people to attend PSY’s concert, including Wonju citizens.
With the concert in Wonju coming up, prices for accommodation increased significantly, causing concern and criticism. Accommodation websites showed that lodging fees around the location of Psy’s concert were more than double the usual rates for many places.
In response to the criticism, the city of Wonju has taken measures. On July 7, the city of Wonju announced that they have been conducting inspections and monitoring accommodation establishments since June 28. They are continually checking establishments for compliance with regulations, such as checking the business’ reports and checking to see if the lodging prices are posted. They are also conducting guidance activities targeting lodging establishments to discourage excessive price increases.
SUMMER SWAG 2023 officially started on June 30 in Jamsil, Seoul, where MAMAMOO‘s Hwasa made a surprise appearance. It will continue in cities nationwide until August.
