Recently, member Laurence shared several messages on Weverse, appearing to discuss ways that fans hype up their favorite idols with lists. He mentioned several, some of which may or may not exist, including “Top Female Indonesian Idol,” questioning how many Indonesian K-Pop idols were were.

Every time I see things like “the best male idol from the 5th generation,” “the best singer from the 5th generation,” and “the best composer from the 5th generation,” I can’t help but laugh. I’ve even seen “the best female idol from Indonesia.” I wonder how many Indonesians are there in the entire Korean entertainment industry.

While there have been a number of Indonesia idols, the only one currently actively promoting is Hearts2Hearts’ Carmen, though multiple are in groups that have not announced disbandments.

As a result of his statements, many accused the idol of talking badly not only about Carmen, but saw the remark as disparaging towards Indonesians in general.

Subsequently, the idol apologized with multi-language messages posted to the group’s account, saying he did not mean to use negative expressions about “other artists, their fans, or an entire country.

Many addressed Lawrence’s apology, hopeful that he learned a lesson, rather than just apologizing to ease the criticism.
