Actress Explains How She Ended Up Going Fully Nude In Film Featuring 20 Minutes Of Sex Scenes
Actress Kim Gyu Ri recently sat down for an interview, where she discussed one of her most notable film roles.

While she has appeared in many other projects since, including Green Mothers’ Club and God of War, the 2008 film Portrait of a Beauty is what she is most known for. The film, starring Kim Gyu Ri and Kim Young Ho, is an adaptation of a novel about the Joseon-era painter Hyewon (Sin Yung Bok), depicting him as a woman in disguise.

Many of Hyewon’s works were erotic, which echoed in this film through the multiple sex scenes.
Rather than use body doubles, Kim Gyu Ri appeared in the scenes fully nude herself, which she spoke about during the variety program Noppakku Tak Jae-hoon. She revealed that body doubles were available and gave details about that process.
They prepared separate doubles for each body part — a butt double, a breast double, a wrist double, an ankle double. When I was in the waiting room with the director, the doubles would come in and show the specific body parts themselves.

She ultimately asked if she could perform the scenes herself and agreed to replace them with a body double if they weren’t satisfactory. Ultimately, the production company decided that the scenes were effective and were retained in the film’s final version.

In an industry where actors are sometimes coerced into filming these types of scenes, it is good to hear that Kim Gyu Ri chose to do them herself.
