Aespa’s NingNing Exposes Her Dramatic Change Before And After Joining SM

Recently, aespa’s NingNing opened up about her experience as a trainee at SM Entertainment.

She revealed that she enjoyed singing from a young age.

I liked to sing since I was little, and I did it as a hobby.

When TWICE’s Sana asked if she was ok singing in front of people, NingNing responded, “I think it was more so when I was younger. I think I was a bit shameless.”

For NingNing, she auditioned so many times that she lost count of the times she’s done them.

Thanks to that, I received a call from SM. I stayed with my mom for about a week, immediately signed the contract, and became a trainee.

When asked if her mom was sad about her leaving, NingNing confessed she had never done anything alone.

“She was sad. Before coming to Korea, I never went anywhere alone, not even the elevator. My grandmother took care of me.

Living abroad changed my life completely. It wasn’t easy at first, but I’m ok now. I came to Korea at 14 to start training.”

After four years of training, she debuted as a member of aespa and shared the differences between then and now.

“I always looked pure and innocent in a white T-shirt, jeans, or a dress. But suddenly, I had to rap and take classes on the storyline.

I like the concept now. I think it’s good to be unique and special.”
