Azaelia Banks is an American rapper, singer, and songwriter who has been active in the industry for many years. While she has collected accolades and is undoubtedly talented, Banks’ controversial statements and behaviors have often overshadowed her work.

She has been called out for what many describe as homophobic and transphobic language in the past, once even believed to have made a reference to BTS’s Jungkook in a viral tirade.

This time, however, she’s attracted attention for a remark involving Lisa.

Lisa recently released her solo album, Alter Ego, and it is currently a hot topic.

On March 1, Banks replied to a fan asking if she had any thoughts about Lisa’s album, saying she didn’t listen to K-Pop.

While listening to K-Pop is a preference and personal choice, some have taken offense to her reasoning for not listening to Lisa specifically.

Lisa’s recently released solo work and album are in English, and the idol herself is not Korean, but Thai.

These facts have led fans to accuse Banks of racism for not correcting her initial statement. Banks later made a series of tweets making the valid complaint against fashion houses not including enough Hip-Hop artists in their celebrity attendees, but unnecessarily mentioned K-Pop idols’ attendance, showing her perception of the genre’s artists.

Many called her over her response to being asked about Lisa.
