Korean Man Who Sexually Harassed AOA’s Seolhyun Revealed To Have Schizoaffective Disorder

He has been sentenced to probation.

The Korean man who was sentenced to prison for sexually harassing AOA’s Seolhyun has been identified as a man in his 40’s who is suffering from schizoaffective disorder.

The man was sentenced to 6 months in prison and 2 years of probation by the Incheon District Court as well as 40 hours of sexual violence treatment classes and a 5-year restriction on employment at institutions related to children or the youth.

 

The man in question was indicted for sending sexually humiliating and disgusting messages and videos to Seolhyun’s personal Instagram account from April to December of last year.

According to the results of investigations, the man had apparently sent numerous obscene videos and a total of 43 inappropriate messages during this period.

 

It has been confirmed that the man was suffering from schizoaffective disorder and had continued to commit the crime even after Seolhyun filed the lawsuit.

According to Mayoclinic, schizoaffective disorder is “a mental disorder in which a person experiences a combination of schizophrenia symptoms, such as hallucinations or delusions, and mood disorder symptoms, such as depression or mania.

 

Despite his illness, the judge who was overseeing the case has ruled that although his actions seemed to have been influenced by his mental illness, it will not be acknowledged as insanity.

Meanwhile, the man’s probation sentence has been confirmed following the absence of an appeal.
