Broadcaster Suh Dong Joo revealed the details of her struggle with infertility.
In a recent video released on her YouTube channel, Suh shared her daily life as she went grocery shopping with her husband and made rice cake soup. Despite the warm and cheerful atmosphere in the video, she calmly spoke about the tough times she endured during infertility treatment.
Suh confessed that she had previously tried in vitro fertilization but ended up visiting the emergency room due to severe pain during the process. “After getting injections, my abdomen swelled a lot and my body felt lethargic. I was constantly tired and sleepy,” she said. “The menstrual cramps were so severe that I ultimately went to the ER. I came back after receiving an IV and painkillers,” she recalled.
Following this incident, the couple decided to pause treatment for a while. She explained, “They said pain severe enough to go to the ER is uncommon,” adding, “Rather than being greedy, I want to follow the natural course without harming my health.”
In the meantime, Suh opened up about her feelings on infertility. “One reason I hadn’t remarried for nearly 10 years was the burden of infertility,” she confessed, “I didn’t want to make it a burden to my partner that I might not be able to have children.” Early in their relationship, she honestly told her husband, “If family is important to you, it’s better not to be with me.” However, her husband understood her situation and chose to marry her.
Currently, they are preparing again. Suh said, “We plan to try egg donation around August to September 2026,” emphasizing, “Since this could be a long process, mental health management is most important.” She also mentioned that she is conducting investment meetings related to her personal brand and looks forward to new achievements in both work and family life.
Despite the pain that took her to the emergency room, Suh’s choice to prioritize her health resonates deeply with those facing similar struggles through her sincere confession.
