Beloved Star Gets Called To Perform On “Music Core” — 23 Years After Release
A beloved Korean star is set to perform on the upcoming broadcast of MBC‘s Show! Music Core — 23 years after the initial release of the song.
According to her agency on the 26th, actress Ha Ji Won will appear on the live broadcast of Show! Music Core on the 30th (Saturday) to dramatically recreate the iconic stage “Home Run.” This decision came as a result of overwhelming public demand, fulfilling her promise tied to the number of views.
The excitement for Ha Ji Won’s “Home Run” stage first ignited in March when she appeared on the YouTube channel Neighborhood Friend Kangnami. At that time, Kangnam shared, “My wife Lee Sang Hwa sings ‘Home Run’ every time she goes to karaoke,” prompting a look back at Ha Ji Won’s 2003 music show activities.
Back then, Ha Ji Won revealed the behind-the-scenes story, saying, “I was suddenly asked to appear on music shows to promote a movie,” and humorously added, “I hope no one ever watches those videos,” drawing laughter. However, this “dark past confession” shorts video surpassed 3 million views, beginning an unexpected resurgence. Ha Ji Won’s panicked reaction to mentions of “Home Run” became a popular meme among Gen-Z.
The revival then began with JTBC Digital Studio’s web variety show Class of ’26, Ji Won Here. In the episode released on April 30, Ha Ji Won invited Kian84 and Kangnam to her school, where they met with the cheerleading club members.
At the meeting, Kian84 and Kangnam teased Ha Ji Won, saying, “One day, you have to perform ‘Home Run’ again,” which led Ha Ji Won to boldly promise, “If the video reaches over 1.2 million views, I will recreate ‘Home Run.’” Thanks to the fans’ explosive streaming, the video quickly surpassed the target, nearing 1.6 million views and sparking Ha Ji Won’s comeback.
Ha Ji Won’s special stage marking her bold comeback with a “turn-of-the-century mood” in 2003 will be unveiled on the 30th on MBC’s Show! Music Core.
