BLACKPINK becomes fastest girl group to achieve #1 on a music show

YG Entertainment‘s BLACKPINK has won the title of becoming the fastest girl group to ever achieve the #1 spot on a music show—in a mere 13 days.

On the August 21st broadcast of SBS Inkigayo, BLACKPINK won their very first #1 trophy with their debut track “Whistle” in less than two weeks since debut, putting them at the top of the list for the being the fastest girl group to win #1 on a music show.

This means that BLACKPINK has beat out their seniors and former record-holder, miss A, who won it in an incredible 22 days.

After setting the new record and claiming their first trophy, the rookie girl group members thanked their agency’s CEO, Yang Hyun Suk, as well as their head producer, Teddy, who led the production of both “Whistle” and “BOOMBAYAH”.

“Whistle” has taken the first slot on eight of the most popular music streaming sites in South Korea including MelOn, Monkey3, Olleh Music, Naver Music, Bugs, Mnet, Soribada, and Genie, which has helped boost the scores in leading to their Inkigayo win.

BLACKPINK has also earned a separate title from netizens on this day and are now being called “beast rookies” for being able to pull off such a milestone in this short amount of time.
