“DDU-DU DDU-DU” Became BLACKPINK’s Title Song For An Unexpected Reason
BLACKPINK has been making historical achievements with their first mini-album, “SQUARE UP” and especially more with their title track “DDU-DU DDU-DU”. So the question had to be asked, was there a special reason why “DDU-DU DDU-DU” was chosen as the title track? Did they know it was going to blow up?
Jennie unexpectedly revealed that the reason was pretty simple. “DDU-DU DDU-DU” was chosen as the title track mainly because it was their newest song!
“‘DDU-DU DDU-DU’ was the newest song that we worked on, and it had the fresh feel that we needed. It just felt right.” — Jennie
Surprisingly, the rest of the songs from the album were songs that they’ve worked on long before “SQUARE UP”. “FOREVER YOUNG” was even heard outside of YG’s building nearly 3 years ago!
“The other sub-tracks were songs that we’ve worked on long ago.” — Jennie
But when “DDU-DU DDU-DU” came about, the girls knew that it was their destined title track.
“It refreshing because it has a more powerful performance feel to it. We were able to find good synergy with ‘DDU-DU DDU-DU’.” — Jennie
Although they loved the song, they never expected “DDU-DU DDU-DU” to blow up so big all over the world!
“We really didn’t expect this. We were really nervous [about its release]. We were worried people might have forgotten us after waiting for a year.” — Rosé
BLACKPINK recently entered Billboard 200 at No. 40, Hot 100 at No. 55, and have broken so many new records as a K-Pop girl group. They never expected that their simple reason to choose “DDU-DU DDU-DU” as their title track will become one of the most historical achievements in K-Pop!
