BLACKPINK’s Jennie Reduces Facial Swelling With An Extra Step In Her Beauty Routine — But It’s Not As Easy As It Looks
Earlier this year, BLACKPINK‘s Jennie made her grand entrance at the Met Gala in her timeless Chanel outfit.
Recently, Jennie uploaded a video on her YouTube channel showing BLINKs the behind-the-scenes moments of her getting ready for the Met Gala.
The day before the Met Gala, Jennie was on her “first podcast ever” with Dua Lipa, and the vlog showed her picking out a top to wear for her interview. Joking that it was “Zoom meeting attire,” she only picked out a top and wore comfortable sweatpants as she spoke with Dua Lipa about her experience acting in HBO‘s The Idol.
Then on the morning of the Met Gala, Jennie showed us what she did to prepare for her iconic moment. Instead of starting with her hair and makeup, however, Jennie had a unique step before putting on makeup: she put her face in a bowl of ice. First, the makeup artist massaged her face with ice-cold hands to eliminate facial swelling.
Then the BLACKPINK star put her whole face in the freezing bowl of ice—so cold that Jennie had to pause, exclaiming, “Aah, it’s so cold!”
Jennie is known for her cute cheeks, often called “dumplings.” BLINKs adore her baby fat, and it’s seen as one of her many beautiful traits!
Even her fellow BLACKPINK members adore her adorable cheeks.
Ice is often used to reduce pain and swelling in injured areas as the cold constricts blood vessels and decreases circulation to the area. Therefore, using ice to reduce a puffy face for aesthetic purposes is the same concept as athletes using ice to reduce swelling on an injury. Facial icing is also said to help reduce under-eye bags and inflammation from skin conditions as well.
Jennie may have used this hack to look gorgeous on her appearance at the Met Gala, but it’s a fact that she would have looked flawless with or without the ice massage!
