BLACKPINK’s New Song Sparks Fury Over Misogynistic Lyrics
Ahead of BLACKPINK‘s new album, DEADLINE, one particular song’s lyrics have caused a huge stir on social media.

Shortly after the group’s recent teaser for the music video of “GO” was put out on YouTube, their official channel accidentally published the musical tracks for each song on the new album. Fans noted that Dr. Luke, a producer who has faced serious allegations of sexual assault and rape, was credited in some of the songs.
BLACKPINK’s Entire Album “Accidentally” Leaks — Credits Include Alleged Rapist
One of those songs was “Me & My,” which was also leaked on social media a few days ago. With Dr. Luke’s name being in the credits, many revisited the lyrics of the leaked part of the song, expressing disgust at the misogynistic lyrics.
there’s no way the same woman who made ruby would allow this

Netizens especially focused on the line, “You know, that’s my girl/ When I call her bitch, it’s a compliment.” Regardless of the song’s context, many took issue with the fact that a slur word like “bitch” was used in the song when none of the writers were women. That, coupled with the overall lyrical tone and Dr. Luke’s involvement in the track, has sparked renewed backlash online.

of course a song so distasteful (and arguably so male-centered) like Me & My Girls could only have been written by ….. a bunch of men! (including a rapist) pic.twitter.com/vMrgiGun6G

i hope the lashings will be big enough to reach them like something needs to pop their bubble of ignorance they’re comfortably sitting in already

The group is such a joke . All their ‘feminist’ songs being written by men with lyrics that just puts other o women down and now they sealed it with working with a rapist . https://t.co/zipM0jrAO0

disappointed at the pinks but honestly not surprised. They always let YG handle the group music and never overlook their own group projects. They in the position to negotiate about everything so surely this could have been avoided

While BLACKPINK have previously been caught up in many controversies over their music, many fear that this time it has crossed the point of no return.
