BLACKPINK Are Among The World’s Most Famous Celebrities, But They Want Fans To Treat Them Like “Ordinary Girls”

Here’s what else they told BLINKs.

BLACKPINK recently sat down for an exclusive interview with Rolling Stone.

During their face-to-face talk, the magazine noted that BLACKPINK is “more down-to-earth” than expected, particularly when comparing them to their on-stage selves. Their immense confidence on screen was more subtle in real life. Rolling Stone wrote, “They’re prone to laughter, constantly talking over one another.”

The members themselves retain a level of humility that is uncommon considering their popularity. Jisoo, for instance, is the ambassador of luxury brand Dior, the main actress of JTBC‘s Snowdrop, and of course, the lead singer of BLACKPINK. Regardless, she does not feel how popular she actually is.

My mom and dad are proud of me, but I don’t feel like a world star.

— Jisoo

No matter how many years have passed, she still considers herself the same person she was almost a decade ago. The YG Entertainment trainee whom no one knew about is part of the person she is today.

I’m the same person that started training in high school. My social standing may have changed, but to me, I’m just . . . too me.

Jennie added that BLACKPINK wants to be treated like everyone else. Though they know that they have a responsibility to be good examples to their audience, they also hope that people know they are simple girls as well.

Sure, there are times when we talk about what kind of influence we could have…[but] more than anyone, we want to be ordinary girls.

Rather than the glitz and glamour of stardom, they prefer to discuss simple topics in their lives. Jennie said, “What we actually love is talking about our cats, dogs, good food, and pretty places.”
