On September 4, YG Entertainment announced BLACKPINK’s upcoming album had surpassed 800,000 stock pre-orders only 6 days after pre-ordering opened. According to the company, 530,000 of the stock pre-orders came from South Korea while 270,000 came from the U.S. and Europe.

Furthermore, the limited edition LP version of the album sold out in seconds! Due to the high number of stock pre-orders YG Entertainment stated, “BLACKPINK’s limited edition ‘THE ALBUM’ LP sold out as soon as pre-ordering began. The pre-orders for the regular album have also exceeded our initial expected volume so we are currently in the process of producing more albums.

With 800,000 stock pre-orders (and counting), BLACKPINK’s THE ALBUM not only set a record for girl group stock pre-orders but it’s also poised to be the best-selling girl group album in K-Pop history!

THE ALBUM, meanwhile, will be officially dropping digitally on October 2 followed by the release of the physical album on October 9!
