BLINKs Defend BLACKPINK’s Rosé After Her Reaction To Being Asked If She Supports Gay Rights Goes Viral

“She would get hate no matter what she said or did.”

BLACKPINK‘s Rosé recently went viral for her response to a fan asking if she supported gay rights, but netizens have had mixed feelings about her reaction.

BLACKPINK are currently on their Born Pink world tour and have been able to interact with fans during each stop from responding to funny signs held up during soundcheck to having conversations with fans during the nightly send-off.

During the group’s send-off event after one of their concerts in Chicago, a fan asked Rosé if she “supports gay rights.” After smiling at the person who asked the question, Rosé did the “rock on” gesture with her hand and made a “woo” sound as she walked by. Since being posted, the clip has racked up over 2 million views.

Netizens immediately began debating over her actions, with many stating that she should have responded in a better way. Some even began to call her homophobic, causing the phrase “Rosé homophobic” to trend on Twitter.

BLINKs immediately came to her defense, giving a different perspective on her reaction and citing the many times she has shown support to the LGBTQIA+ community.

Fans even recalled a moment from earlier in their tour, when Rosé reacted to a fan telling her that she had traveled to see BLACKPINK with her girlfriend. When the fan explained that she had met her girlfriend because of BLACKPINK, Rosé seemed even more touched.

BLINKs also insisted that during these special events, attendees should ask new questions instead of “putting her in a difficult situation,” and that fans should know and respect boundaries between them and the artists.

BLACKPINK have completed more than half of their North American tour and will be heading to Europe next after performing in Newark, New Jersey, and Los Angeles, California.
