BTS ARMY Bonna Hercia Ambay Murdered, Police Seek Public's Help To Catch Her Killer

A manhunt is underway in the Philippines following the murder of 23-year-old Bonna Hercia Ambay.

This morning, Ambay was found dead inside her workplace after Kalibo PNP received a call from a concerned citizen. She was found at the RD Pawnshop on Mabini Street in Kalibo, Aklan. Ambay worked at RD Pawnshop as a manager.

According to initial investigation reports, Ambay sustained multiple stab wounds to various parts of her body and was deceased when police arrived at the scene. Various personal items were recovered at RD Pawnshop, including a bloodstained Coach handbag believed to be Ambay’s, black Havaianas slippers believed to be the suspect’s, a handcuff stained with blood, and a pink coin purse. A bloodied knife and a security guard uniform with the name tag, “TORRIEFIEL MAR,” were also recovered.

Security guard Mark Archie Torrefiel is the prime suspect in Ambay’s murder. His discarded .38 revolver was found, wrapped in fabric beneath a banana tree, near his home.

According to Leamil Malungayon, the Area Manager of RD Pawnshop, no valuables belonging to the pawnshop were taken and the store’s vault was left untouched. The motive behind Ambay’s murder is currently unknown.

What is known is that Torrefiel and his live-in partner have fled, and a police search is underway. Kalibo Mayor-Elect Juris Bautista Sucro has offered a reward of 30,000 PHP (approximately $567 USD) to anyone with information about the at-large suspect’s whereabouts.

Members of BTS‘s fandom, ARMY, are among those who have answered the call. Ambay was a proud ARMY, who celebrated what was to be her final birthday with a BTS-themed cake and a Jin T-shirt.

On social media, ARMYs around the globe are now mourning the tragic loss of one of their own and working together to bring her killer to justice.
