“BOYS II Planet” Kim Geonwoo’s Apology For Bullying Trainees Triggers Heated Debate
Earlier this week, on July 16, a controversy surrounding Boys II Planet (also known as Boys Planet 2) contestant Kim Geonwoo broke out after an anonymous netizen accused him of bullying fellow trainees during his time at a company called “Company B.”

The accuser, who dubbed Kim Geonwoo the “King of Company B,” alleged that the trainee received special treatment due to ties with two employees from the rookie development team. According to the post, Kim Geonwoo used his influence to bully other trainees, pushing some to seek treatment for depression and anxiety. The claims quickly spread on social media, prompting intense scrutiny.

On July 21 KST, Kim Geonwoo issued a handwritten apology through his official channels. In the statement, he acknowledged causing pain and hardship to others during his time as a trainee. He admitted that his behavior as a leader was immature and that his actions may have hurt others.

“Hello,
This is trainee Kim Geonwoo, currently participating in Boys Planet 2. First, I want to sincerely apologize to everyone for having to write this post due to an unfortunate matter.
I honestly don’t know where or how to begin. This is my first time experiencing something like this, and I needed time to think about how to respond properly, I ask for your understanding regarding the delay in sharing my statement.
To start, as mentioned in the post that sparked the controversy, regardless of the reason, I want to sincerely apologize and say I’m truly sorry for the hurtful words and actions that caused pain and difficulty to many people.
At that time, I was in the position of a team leader and was going through a difficult period. Driven by the pressure and responsibility to perform well, I was immature and unskilled in how I led my fellow trainees. Through that process, I ended up hurting several people, and I deeply regret that and offer my heartfelt apology.
Although there are parts of the post that are distorted or not true, after careful consideration, I believe that what’s most important is to take responsibility and apologize for the things I did wrong, regardless of what’s true and what’s not. That’s why I am writing this letter of reflection.
To everyone who had to come across these unpleasant stories because of me, and to the public who has been affected by this situation, I sincerely apologize once again.
I will take this incident as a lesson and work hard to grow into a better and more mature person.
Thank you.”
— Kim Geonwoo
The apology has sparked a heated debate among fans of the show. Some do not deem it good enough and accuse Kim of trying to save face.
geonwoo’s apology and admittance to the allegations truly should be a wake up call for his removal from the program. someone who has bullied other trainees should NOT be allowed to be on such a large platform with the potential to debut and ruin opportunities for fellow trainees

this is the kind of "apology" you give when saving face matters more to you than anything else. refusing to clarify the truth when a victim has come forward saying you bullied them to the brink of suicide is cowardly and insane https://t.co/gDgLAWMvcW
