BTS and BLACKPINK have been making waves all around the world, but they now have a unique and impressive record to their name.
These two groups are the only two K-Pop acts on Billboard‘s World Digital Song Sales Chart! According to Billboard, BTS and BLACKPINK control more than two-thirds of the chart dated April 27.
On the World Digital Songs Sales chart dated April 27, BTS claim 11 spots. All seven of the songs from Map Of The Soul: Persona claim #1 to #7. Additionally, “MIC Drop (feat. Desiigner)” takes #16, “IDOL (feat. Nick Minaj)” placed #17, while “FAKE LOVE” and “DNA” placed #18 and #25 respectively.
BLACKPINK occupies 6 of the 25 spots. “Kill This Love” leads BLACKPINK’s tracks at #8, followed by two more tracks of their EP, Kill This Love. “Ddu-Du Ddu-Du” placed #11 while Jennie‘s “SOLO” and “Boombayah” are at #20 and #22 respectively.
BTS leads in #1s on the World Digital Songs charts with an astonishing 11, starting with “FIRE” back in 2016 and most recently with “Boy With Luv (feat. Halsey)”. BLACKPINK has 5 chart-toppers to their name, with “Boombayah” in 2016 and with “Kill This Love” just last week.
While other K-Pop acts have been on the charts in the past–these include groups like MAMAMOO, KARD, and (G)-IDLE, this is the first time where the charts have been dominated by only two K-Pop acts.
Congratulations to both BTS and BLACKPINK for such an unprecedented achievement!
