BTS’s “Butter” Ranks In Top 5 Of Billboard Hot 100 Chart For 10th Week Joined By Fellow Company Artists
BTS‘s “Butter” is once again in the top 5 of the Billboard Hot 100 chart!
Last week, “Butter” became the longest-leading hit of 2021 as it spent nine weeks on top of the Billboard Hot 100 chart. It beat out Olivia Rodrigo’s “Drivers License,” which had an eight-week reign in January-March. Now, BTS’s “Butter” is in its 10th week in the top 5 on the chart.
While it seemed like Lil Nas X and Jack Harlow‘s “Industry Baby” might have been some competition since it was last week’s most-streamed song, some competition as it was this week’s most-streamed song with 40.6 million streams, it ultimately ended up making its chart debut at No. 2.
Surprisingly, “Industry Baby” dropped to 7 while The Kid LAROI and Justin Bieber‘s “Stay” rose from No. 4 to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in its fourth week on the chart. According to Billboard, this “duet marks The Kid LAROI’s first leader on the list and Bieber’s eighth.”
This week, “Butter” dropped from No. 1 to No. 4 on the chart. According to MRC Data, the 10th week of “Butter” on the chart saw a significant decrease in Digital Song Sales as it sold 79,200 (down 30%) for the week ending in August 5 despite still being this week’s top-selling song with “Permission to Dance” at No. 2. It also returned to its No. 20 high on Radio Songs with 31.6 million (up 4%).
This week's top-selling songs:
1. @BTS_twt Butter
2. @BTS_twt Permission To Dance
3. @edsheeran Bad Habits
4. @walkerhayes Fancy Like
5. @thekidlaroi & @justinbieber Stay— billboard charts (@billboardcharts) August 9, 2021
Billboard also reported that “Columbia Records claims the Hot 100’s last three No. 1s, as ‘Stay’ follows BTS’ ‘Butter’ and ‘Permission to Dance.'” While BTS is signed to HYBE‘s BIGHIT MUSIC, they work with Columbia Records for international promotions, such as their English tracks “Butter” and “Permission to Dance.” The Kid LAROI is signed to this label. Meanwhile, Justin Bieber is technically under HYBE with BTS. So, one could argue that HYBE claims the Hot 100’s last three No. 1s as well.
.@ColumbiaRecords has now had three consecutive No. 1 hits on the #Hot100 ("Butter," "Permission To Dance," "Stay").
This is the first time a label has claimed three consecutive No. 1 hits since @Interscope in 2009 ("Poker Face," "Boom Boom Pow," "I Gotta Feeling").

There’s a possibility “Butter” can rise on the charts again just as “Stay” did!
