BTS’s “Butter” Smashes 5 Guinness World Records In Its First Week
Get it, let it roll! BTS is back and breaking world records with their new song, “Butter!”
According to Guinness World Records, “Butter” began breaking records the moment it premiered on May 21. With 3.9 million concurrent viewers, the “Butter” MV broke the record for “most viewers for the premiere of a video” on YouTube.
At the same time, “Butter” MV gained the “most viewers for the premiere of a music video on YouTube.” The record was previously held by none other than BTS’s “Dynamite” MV (3 million concurrent peak viewers).
With 108,200,000 views, “Butter” also smashed the records for “most viewed YouTube music video in 24 hours” and “most viewed YouTube music video in 24 hours by a K-Pop group,” again snatching the crown from “Dynamite.” “Butter” MV currently has 210,956,841 views.
In addition to YouTube records, “Butter” is also reigning king on Spotify. It broke the record for “most streamed track on Spotify in the first 24 hours” by accumulating 11,042,335 global streams in this time. The record was previously held by Ed Sheeran and Justin Bieber‘s “I Don’t Care” (10,977,389 streams).
As of April 27, BTS became the “most streamed act on Spotify” for groups, with 16.3 billion streams, taking the title from Coldplay (16.1 billion streams as of 27 April 2021).
