BTS Jungkook’s Hope Is For All Seven Members To Continue This Journey Together Forever

BTS is his second family that helped him grow into the person he is today.

BTS Jungkook’s My Biography interview for volume 8 of Japan’s FC magazine proved once again just how much performing on stage as a group means to him.

As a young boy, Jungkook was a playful and curious boy who had a lot of fun just living life.“The earliest memory I have is playing with a dog when I was a kid? I had so much fun playing with a dog that was the same size as me while we were out visiting somewhere. I must have been around 3, 4 years old. The dog became my friend (laughs). Thinking on it now, the dog must’ve been much bigger than me, but I didn’t get hurt. It’s probably because the dog was going easy on me. What a good dog.”

He also recalls being a student who disliked his studies and loved fooling around while at school.

I was a very mischievous boy when I was young. I loved playing outside as a kid. I really hated studying though. I got in trouble by my mom a lot. I was the type of kid who would run down the hallway and eat lunch fast at school (laughs). I even tried out for a b-boy competition even though I wasn’t good at it. I sang 2AM’s “This Song” during a field trip in middle school too.

Seeing how he is called the golden maknae, you would think that he had everything planned out at a young age, but it was actually quite the opposite.

You might think that I had a dream of becoming a singer from a young age, but truthfully I still didn’t know what my goal or dream was even when I tried out for the audition program. It was more of a ‘what will be will be’ type of mindset and was also just for fun. But when I arrived at the audition hall, I became intimidated by the large crowd. I started to shrink after being surrounded by so many strangers. This might be the time that I began being shy around people I didn’t know.

Though I didn’t come to the auditions with a serious mind, I was lucky enough to be found by a company member and started training to become a singer. Truthfully, I received many offers from other companies but I chose the company I am in now because of RM. I also had this intuition that this was a company I could trust. I don’t know why, but I believed that RM was someone that would succeed no matter what he did. I also had this mindset that ‘I will succeed. I will most definitely succeed.’

He was actually quite shy during his years as a trainee and V played an important factor in bringing him out of his shell. “I was really shy during my trainee days and lacked sociability. But it got better after V joined the company. V and I have similar personalities and it’s thanks to him that I came out of my shell. The more I became close to V the more I liked him.”

It was only after debuting that he realized that the importance of dance and began exposing himself to different styles of music.

Honestly, I didn’t really like hip-hop before debut. I saw the other older members doing rap but I mostly enjoyed quiet music. I learned how to dance after becoming a trainee. I felt the need and importance of dance after debuting. I began wanting to dance better after debut so I continued to practice harder. Musically, I thought about what I needed to do in order to grow more and began exposing myself to all different kinds of music and ultimately began to enjoy music more.

His first encounter with RM still sticks with him today. “I still remember the first time I met the members. Out of all the members, the first impression of RM was the most intense. I walked into the closet and there was RM wearing nothing but his underwear. I was really shocked (laughs).”

Lastly, his hope is to continue this journey with all the members of BTS.

Like I said before, I chose to join this company because of RM. I have never forgotten how happy I am to be a part of BTS. The moment that I feel this the most is when I am standing on stage. I really enjoy the moment all seven of us are standing on stage and singing to all the ARMY who are supporting us in the crowd. Going forward, I hope to continue do what we are doing all together in the future too. My hope is to perform on stage and do concerts without a single member missing. I want to continue doing this more a long time with all the members. I hope that only good things will happen forever.

That’s why I don’t ask for anything more than what we have now. Since the stage is my all, of course I want to do events, entertainment, magazines, music videos and more to make ARMYs happy. I’m happy that a lot of people are happy and the stage is the most precious to me. When I am on stage, I feel an emotion that not everyone can feel boiling inside of me. It’s something that I can’t express with words but it feels like a strong force is attacking my heart, or something beyond that. That’s why the stage is a very special place for me. I hope to continue performing onstage with all the BTS members.

We can see that it is because of the members that Jungkook continued to grow as a person and as an artist, making him the talented golden maknae that he is today!
