On July 15, fans were surprised to find that BTS members were suddenly following a mysterious new account under the handle @mnijungkook. Despite the account having no posts, followers quickly assumed it was Jungkook’s because of the group’s long-standing tradition of only following each other on social media.

What truly drew attention was the username itself. Some fans claimed that the “mni” in mnijungkook could be a subtle reference to Winter’s real name, Minjeong, reading it as “MinJungkook.” This quickly caused renewed speculation that the two idols could be romantically involved.

Further adding fuel to the fire, fans uncovered that the account was actually created months ago. Its original handle was reportedly @imjungkook, strikingly similar to Winter’s Instagram handle @imwinter.

However, Jungkook later went on live to talk about his new account and even reveal the meaning behind the mysterious username. He clarified that the new username simply means “My Name Is Jungkook,” shutting down any circulating theories.

Many fans of both BTS and aespa have since criticized the rumors, calling them a stretch and reminding others to respect the idols’ privacy.

While Jungkook’s new Instagram account certainly caused a stir, most fans do not see any concrete evidence linking him to Winter. As of now, the speculation remains just that, speculation.
