Popular Actor Once Pursued By JYP Entertainment Says He’s Glad He’s Not An Idol
Before he became one of Korea’s fastest-rising actors, Choo Young Woo was once on a very different path—one that could have landed him in the K-Pop industry.

In a recent interview, the award-winning star revealed that he had actually received a casting offer from JYP Entertainment, one of the biggest idol agencies in the industry. But looking back now, he says he has no regrets about not taking that route.
Honestly… I’m really glad I didn’t do it. I mean, I really respect singers. You don’t realize how much work goes on behind the scenes until you see it up close. What you see on stage is only a small part of it.

Watching idols prepare, rehearse, and perform shifted his perspective entirely. While acting requires its own discipline, Choo Young Woo noted that performing live in front of an audience is an entirely different challenge. “Acting is something a lot of people can try,” he explained. “But performing on stage? That’s not something just anyone can do.”

So he is firmly rooted in acting now, though he hasn’t completely closed the door on the idea of a K-Pop idol. That said, when will we ever get to see Choo Young Woo on stage?
If I get the chance… Maybe in my next life.
