Chungha Opens Up About Feeling “Exhausted” Pre-Hiatus And What Saved Her

Hugs, Chungha!

Chungha is keying up to return to the music industry after a prolonged hiatus. She recently guested on Dive Studio‘s “Daebak Show” hosted by Eric Nam where she discussed her break and what she felt during this period.

Here, the latter brought up his impression of her during the interview, saying that she looked healthier and more at ease since the last time they met.

You brought up mental health. And if you don’t mind me saying, I think even when I first met you until now, right now, you seem like you’re in a great place. You seem more extroverted and outgoing and actually just very at peace and happy which I think is amazing…I feel like when we first met, you were just going through a rougher patch.

Chungha agreed, saying, “Yeah, I feel like I manage myself.” She admitted that she did, indeed, go through a tough time when she was actively promoting in her old company, MNH Entertainment. Constantly having jampacked schedules led her to experiencing burnout.

Yeah, I was exhausted. I think…from then I was just soaked.

Eric empathized, saying that this was understandable considering how she was “always promoting.”

What kept Chungha going was simple: the company of her dogs.

My dogs. I’m not going to lie, they were a big help for me. They were always there for me, you know? Just being at home…it was a big comfort, the dogs’ walking sound or their stench.

Keeping a positive mindset was another thing that kept her from mentally collapsing. She learned to find peace in gratitude and friendships with others.

It’s crucial to not shut down people. To shut down people as in like, like saying, ‘I’m tired. Everything is boring.’ But don’t push people back. Don’t push people off because there aren’t not many people who come to you. There are fewer than expected. I knew that there are so many thankful people around me and I grew up to the person who can appreciate more than the past.
