She was previously criticized over comments made about Lisa’s album, sparking accusations of racism.

On an image of Lisa that went viral on X, Banks chimed in accusing Lisa of being a “ladyboy,”  is a term used to describe transgender women in Cambodia, Laos, and famously, Thailand. She then pointed out physical traits she believed “showed” this before outright calling Lisa “a man.”

She took it even further, accusing female K-Pop idols of men.

While there is nothing wrong with being transgender, the insinuation that Lisa is secretly transgender and using the region specific language is not only racist, but can be considered transphobic as well. Calling ladyboys men, rather than respecting gender identities, and assigning traits to determine “womanhood” also is considered transphobic.

Many criticized the singer for her comments, calling her out for her continued, harmful rhetoric.
