Rapper Desiigner Gives Shout-Out To BTS And Steve Aoki… Five Years Too Late
Arguably, one of the most iconic collaborations of all time is BTS and DJ and producer Steve Aoki‘s “MIC Drop.”
Originally included in the 2017 EP Love Yourself: Her, this song was a gateway for many into K-Pop and/or the BTS ARMY.
Yet, the collaboration grew a couple of months later when a remix of “Mic Drop” by Aoki featuring American rapper Desiigner was announced for release as a single.
“MIC Drop” got a lot of American radio play, and BTS performed it on many U.S. television shows, such as The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Jimmy Kimmel Live!, and Saturday Night Live.
Likewise, the remix became an arena anthem at sporting events, including the NBA. It was even used occasionally in some ads.
Five years later, Steve Aoki still plays “MIC Drop” when he DJs events and visits with BTS at concerts. He also sometimes mixes it with other BTS hits, including “The Truth Untold,” which he worked on.
Well, it turns out he is not the only one not to have forgotten about “MIC Drop.”
Desiigner quote-tweeted BTS’s post advertising the remix of “MIC Drop.” Yes, from 2017.

He included a purple heart emoji and tagged Aoki and BTS. He also followed up with an additional tweet, shouting-out ARMY.

On the other hand, ARMYs are confused AF. The comment section is filled with many saying it’s “five years too late.”

Others are suspicious that it’s a hint that there is a new collaboration in the works. So, he is just drawing attention to the original.

Interestingly enough, Desiigner also went on a “liking spree” as he liked many ARMYs’ replies and quote tweets.
What do you think? Could they be working on another collaboration, or did Desiigner just remember his password?
