When looking at the past New Year’s couples, and many of the other couples, a netizen noted that none appeared to have been from HYBE.

Across the various couples, at least one from the original “Big 3” have been exposed by Dispatch — BLACKPINK’s Jennie and EXO’s Kai were the 2019 New Year’s couple while TWICE Jihyo’s relationship with Kang Daniel was exposed by Dispatch.

The common reason for this avoidance was mentioned to be HYBE paying Dispatch in order to avoid any dating reveals, though a former manager of a K-Pop group has stated otherwise.

At the same time, netizens also criticized those that seemed to hope for a HYBE couple reveal, remarking that, if true, there was nothing wrong with HYBE paying for news not to be released.
