“Dream High” Embroiled In Unpaid Actor Appearance Fee Controversy

It has been reported that actors appearing in the musical Dream High 2 have not received their performance fees from the production company.

According to a media outlet on the 2nd, many cast members of the musical Dream High 2 have not been paid by the production company, Art One Company, despite the deadline for payment having passed.

Dream High is a work based on the drama of the same name, which premiered in early 2023, with Season 2 running from April 5 to June 1 at the Woori Financial Art Hall in Seoul. Performances continued afterwards in Daegu, Busan, Manila, and Taipei.

The unpaid fees owed to the cast are reported to be in the billions of won. Regarding this, the production company stated, “Since early November, we have been coordinating with the actors to resolve the issue. Because it is an original musical with a large number of people involved and the budget exceeded expectations, the issue of unpaid fees arose. We have been steadily working on solutions since September. We plan to do our best to settle the remaining payments starting this week.

However, despite the ongoing non-payment of fees, the production of Dream High Reboot, which corresponds to Season 3, has been confirmed.

Art One Company will also produce Dream High Reboot, like the previous seasons, but concerns have been raised about whether proceeding with production is responsible when actors from Season 2 have yet to be paid.

Regarding this matter, the production company Art One Company has stated to various media outlets that it is “checking the situation.”
