Earlier this month it was revealed that MBC weathercaster Oh Yoanna had taken her own life in September 2024 as a result of workplace bullying. Since then, text message screenshots and other photos have been shared revealing the disturbing level of harassment she faced.
Amid the case continuing to gain attention in South Korea and beyond, an old video shared on Yoanna’s YouTube channel has been making the rounds online and breaking netizens’ hearts. The video is a vlog shot in 2021 after Yoanna passed the hiring test at MBC and got into the company.
In the touching footage, Oh Yoanna is seen sitting at a table with her mother, delivering the news of her successful job application and later acceptance.
Upon hearing the announcement, her mother’s face lights up with pride as she begins to clap and cheer for her daughter’s achievement.
The excited reactions then lead to a warm hug shared between the two women, with Yoanna looking visibly emotional at her mother’s reaction.
Oh Yoanna had shared this video as a way to commemorate her first position as a weathercaster, marking what she believed would be the start of her professional journey. The vlog has been gaining views ever since the tragic news broke out earlier this month, with netizens expressing their anger and upset in the comments.
