At the end of April 2025, KATSEYE returned with “Gnarly,” a hyper-pop track that has become a hot topic.  Various aspects of the video and song have been scrutinized, including the lyrical content and alleged usage of AI.

Still, many reactions have been positive, and it is KATSEYE’s most recent release in several months. Like other comebacks, the group has already started promoting in various ways, including with collaboration videos with other stars.

On May 1, a dance challenge featuring Daniela and ENHYPEN’s Jay was shared online, featuring the two idols dancing to “Gnarly.”

Many reacted excitedly to the video, thrilled for more interactions between the two groups. However, some criticism of Jay’s performance in the video centered on his alleged “stiffness.”

The dance features moves that could be considered more “feminine,” and rather than going all out with the dance like Daniela, Jay did a more subdued version, which did not sit well with viewers.

On the other hand, many defended the idol, saying there was nothing wrong with his dancing, and even reminding that some male idols have been given different dance instructions by choreographers. Many also remarked on the criticism that arises when idols do collaborate, despite these interactions being asked for.
