Ex-Produce 48 Contestant Chiba Erii Will Be Joining Another Mnet Program
On April 9, 2019, it was announced the Chiba Erii would be joining 9 other girls from all around the world in an Mnet reality show. She had previously been a contestant on “Produce 48“, a survival show produced by Mnet.
She had joined Produce 48 as a member of AKB48. She was rank F for the first evaluations and maintained her rank in the re-evaluations.
She was eliminated from the show on episode 8 with the final rank of #33.
She had received a lot of negative attention from South Korean netizens for performing poorly in the evaluations. It is important to note, however, that the Japanese form of training and the Korean form of training are different. Nonetheless, people criticized her and the other Japanese trainees for showing lack of motivation when preparing for the “BOOMBAYAH” stage during their first evaluation.
It seems she is willing to take another shot at K-Pop though! She has joined the cast of “U-Hak SoNyeo: Ticket To K-Pop” as a Japanese K-Pop exchange student. The premise of the show is for exchange students to travel to Korea and experience Hallyu culture.
The show will begin airing in May of 2019.
