Fans Furious Over EXO’s Japan Concert Location Due To Radiation Exposure

They are worried for the members’ health.

Fans and netizens have been furious after SM Entertainment revealed the location of EXO‘s upcoming concert in Japan.

On July 22, an announcement was posted on EXO’s official fanclub website that notified that they will begin receiving tickets on the 15th and that the concert is expected to be held in October.

According to the announcement, EXO will be performing at the Marine Messe in Fukuoka from October 11-13, Osaka Castle Hall from October 18-19, the Yokohama Arena from October 22-23 and Miyagi Sekisui Heim Super Arena from December 20-21.

After the information was revealed, however, fans became furious. This is because the Sekisui Heim Super Arena is only about 130km away from the Fukushima Daiichi Accident. Miyagi is said to be only a 1 hour and 30 minute ride away from Fukushima. Fans are even more worried as the Miyagi Prefecture recorded the second-highest levels of radiation exposure after Fukushima Prefecture.

Netizens have been expressing their concern for EXO’s health.

  • “Regardless of anything else, we are concerned for the members’ health.”
  • “It will be dangerous not only for the members, but for the staff too.”
  • “Are they crazy?”
  • “You must cancel it’s dangerous.”

Fans have even been trending the hashtag #SM_엑소_미야기콘_취소해 (#SM_Cancel_EXO_MiyagiConcert).
