EXO to release their second official album next January
According to exclusive news from Korean news site DongA, EXO is expected to make a comeback with a new start and a mindset next January!
Despite the recent troubles regarding the departure of two EXO-M members, namely Kris and Luhan, EXO is reported to be preparing and aiming for a release of their second official album next January. If released as planned, this album will be their newest group project since Overdose that was released back in April this year and it will be a year and seven months since their first studio album XOXO released last June.
Kris filed for a lawsuit against SM Entertainment on May 15th, 2014, while Luhan filed for a lawsuit on October 10th, 2014. Although fans anticipate EXO’s powerful performance and music, some are more concerned about how the agency and group will make up for the absence of the two members. However, since EXO’s brand has already been very prominent, many think that the group will be able to fight it through with a brand new start.
This upcoming comeback will hold great significance for the group, so both EXO and SM Entertainment are currently paying careful attention to even the smallest details, hoping to prove that EXO is still the “most prominent idol group.” A recent Korean survey also named EXO as the “best idol group of 2014”.
Fans had been speculating a comeback from EXO due for October 25th as rumors were circulating around the web, but it turned out that it was just a mistakenly translated comment by a Hong Kong fan.
During this period of time, EXO members have been actively promoting themselves in individual activities as actors and singers. The remaining members of EXO-M have also actively participated in activities, including Lay and Xiumin who recorded for a Chinese variety show, and Lay having the chance to get a solo interview with a Chinese magazine. EXO-M’s Tao and EXO-K’s Chanyeol also recently took part in the featuring of labelmate Zhoumi’s solo debut track “Rewind”. EXO-K’s D.O is starring in the movie “Cart,” where he also personally sang “Crying Out,” an OST for the movie. EXO is also confirmed to perform at MAMA in Hong Kong on December 4th, a grand annual music festival.
