Fifth-Gen Female Idol’s “Golden Spoon” Allegations Spark Mixed Reactions
MEOVV‘s Gawon is believed to be a “golden spoon,” which means to be born into a wealthy and rich family, but has sparked mixed reactions.

MEOVV recently appeared on Kim Jong Kook‘s YouTube show.
During the video, it was revealed that she got into the famous NYU (New York University). Yet, while Kim Jong Kook thought she was accepted and dropped out to be a singer. The MEOVV singer explained she never dropped out. Gawon explained that she had been training as an idol before applying.
Gawon added that she applied to please her grandfather, who didn’t know she had been training to be an idol.
The clip was shared online, and netizens agreed that the idea of NYU is always associated with rich people and how Gawon’s vibes just exude being wealthy but also have the qualities associated, including talent and looks.

- She must be a golden spoon (born rich), lol.
- NYU isn’t really about top grades—it’s more like, if you have money, you can get in. So kids from wealthy families or celebs’ kids all end up at NYU, lol.
- I love her so much, ah.
- But Gawon honestly looks like someone born rich, who’s also smart and has a strong international career—like a classic “overseas-raised elite” type. And it’s kind of amazing that she actually lives up to all of that.
Yet, some had differing thoughts, explaining that this “rich” girl persona meant that she was intimidating, with one OP saying they thought she should’ve attended NYU instead, referring to her idol career.

- She’s tall, has a small face, and her proportions are amazing, but… I just can’t warm up to her. She gives off that “rich, tough girl from New York” vibe, so whenever she shows up, I get intimidated and switch the channel.

- Hmm… honestly, she should’ve just gone to NYU, lol. Doesn’t seem like she has much of a future as an idol anyway, haha.
