This post is a bit long, but I hope everyone reads all of it.
I had the biggest headache and felt a bit dizzy when I woke up yesterday morning.I was going to take medicine after going to the washroom, but suddenly my vision went white. I fell to the floor after running into various things. After I was taken to the hospital, I found out I had carbon monoxide poisoning.
The cause is thought to be a gas leakage. It has no odor or smoke, and it makes no sound, so I just felt I was tired, wanted to sleep, and had a headache. But because I’ve gotten so used to “toughing it out” that I really didn’t realize what was happening.
After getting hospitalized, my carboxyhaemoglobin level was already at 20% (it was said that it should normally be around 1-1.5%) So, based on my situation, the poisoning level was mild to moderate. After inpatient examinations + hyperbaric oxygen therapy, my condition has become stable. I’m here to tell everyone I’m okay. Thank you to everyone who helped me.
I want to use my experience to warn everyone:
– Carbon monoxide is colorless and odorless, so you don’t feel anything when you inhale it.
– If you have a water heater, gas stove, or charcoal fireplace at home, you must ensure there’s adequate ventilation.
– Poisoning doesn’t only happen when you’re showering – it could happen when air ventilation is not adequate.
– I strongly recommend installing a carbon monoxide detector. It could save lives. If you think you have carbon monoxide poisoning, please remember the following:exclamation:
1. Immediately open the windows for ventilation.
2. Immediately leave the scene.
3. Go to the hospital or call for help.
4. Don’t try to tough it out when you feel dizzy. Sit or lie down as soon as possible to avoid falling and getting injured (good thing I didn’t become stupid from hitting my head this time)This was really dangerous. I’m very lucky and grateful
I hope you guys won’t ever experience this. Don’t take safety for granted. Please protect yourself and remind those around you.
