Former NCT’s Taeil (Moon Taeil) admitted all his crimes and expressed remorse.
On September 17, the 11-3 Criminal Division of the Seoul High Court held the first hearing of the appeal trial for three people, including Taeil, on charges of violating the Act on Special Cases concerning the Punishment of Sexual Crimes (aggravated rape). This hearing took place about two months after the case was filed with the court.
On this day, Taeil and two others appeared in brown prison uniforms. The prosecution and Taeil’s side appealed the first trial’s three-and-a-half-year sentence, stating it was “unfair.”
In the closing argument, Taeil stated, “I acknowledge all my sins and reflect on them. Above all, I know that words or actions cannot completely heal the wounds the victim feels. Nevertheless, I take this opportunity to offer my sincere apology.”
He continued, “I will live the rest of my life atoning for my sins. I will never commit a crime again. I will live honestly, never forgetting the weight of the law. I once again apologize for the harm I have caused. I am truly sorry.”
Taeil was previously indicted without detention in March on charges of sexually assaulting a drunken foreign woman with two acquaintances in June 2024.
Meanwhile, Taeil’s sentencing date has been set for October 17 at 2:30 PM KST.
