After seven years since making his variety show debut as one of the main cast of Running Man, Leessang‘s Gary is making his leave, sending a message to fans following the news.
On October 28th, Gary uploaded a sincere note to his fans and followers on Instagram, writing, “I am so sincerely sorry to all those who were surprised by the sudden news of my departure. I bow my head and thank everyone that has given me love, attention and advice. I will work hard in everything I do to not disappoint my fans who have turned all the moments into memories I will carry for life. I gain strength from all the support that everyone is showing me in my decisions and I am sorry as well as thankful once again. Please support the staff of Running Man they are always on their feet running to make sure you guys can laugh. I love you guys.”
Additionally, the caption for the post reads, “Thank you very very much.”
According to media reports, Gary has had thoughts on leaving the show for awhile, but producers convinced him to stay for a bit longer. Unfortunately, it was finally decided that he would be leaving the cast permanently in order for him to focus on his music career.
Gary debuted as a rapper, joining hip-hop group X-Teen in 1997 before leaving and joining Honey Family in 1999, before forming Leessang with Gil in 2002.
Gary’s last appearance on the show is set to be filmed on Monday, October 31st.
