(G)I-DLE’s Rebrand Seems To Reference Former Member Soojin — Sparking Mixed Emotions

“…the missing piece.”

When CUBE Entertainment girl group (G)I-DLE made their debut in 2018, the group was made up of six members.

In August 2021, Soojin withdrew after over six months of confronting online allegations about her having bullied classmates (including actress Seo Shin Ae) in middle school. Since then, Soojin has made her solo debut, as (G)I-DLE continued to promote as five.

Throughout the years, fans have spotted alleged references to Soojin in (G)I-DLE’s work, keeping hope alive of a reunion some day in the future.

Recently, it is believed (G)I-DLE referenced Soojin in a big way with their recent announcement!

On May 2, (G)I-DLE announced their comeback, along with an unexpected rebranding that included changing their name.

The rebrand also included a new logo, which appears to be an asterisk with five points instead of six.

With the space being left in the asterisk instead of being adjusted for five, many believe that the open space represents Soojin. Many have given different perspectives on this, with some believing it is a meaningful reference to the Soojin’s absence.

Many have mixed feelings, both happy about her inclusion and emotional over it at the same time.
