Since debuting, (G)I-DLE has always wowed with their releases, combining amazing music, lyrics, and meanings that go further than just being an amazing song. Yet, the details of their upcoming album sparked another debate about releases in K-Pop.

(G)I-DLE have fans excited after posting concept photos for the full album, showcasing the group’s sexier vibes they seem to be going for with the release.

The tracklist for the album was recently released, and it sparked confusion among fans. Considering it was meant to be a full album, netizens were shocked to see that it only had eight tracks.

If that wasn’t enough, netizens noticed that while listening to the audio snippets of each song…

In the corner, it had the full tracklist with the durations of each song. Netizens were surprised to see that, among the seven songs that had times next to them, only one song (“7days”) was longer than three minutes. The rest were all under three minutes.

When the images were shared, it instantly became a hot topic on Reddit because of how often it happens that “full” albums are short and K-Pop songs are just short in duration. One fan shared that as much as they love (G)I-DLE, they want to stop the trend of short songs and albums.

In particular, they pointed out examples of top groups like NMIXX and ENHYPEN who also follow the trend. In the past, others have pointed out that groups like NewJeans also tend to have quite short songs.

So not only is (G)I-DLE’s 2nd “Full Album” only 8 songs big, only one of those songs is above 3 minutes long… Can this trend please stop?

Others explained that the short songs just seem to have similar formats and are also generally ruined by teasers. In particular, many pointed out that they believe it could be due to the rise in TikTok, where shorter songs can help with viral trends and streaming but not for concerts and fans’ experiences.
