(G)I-DLE’s Yuqi Iconic Response To A Fan Warning Her About Wearing Outfits That Are Too “Revealing”

Yuqi wanted to educate the netizen on prejudices against female idols!

The life of a K-Pop idol is far from the easy and rose-tinted experience one assumed by netizens. More and more, idols are showcasing the hardships suffered in the industry from the tough schedules, expectations of beauty standards, and criticism from fans for even the smallest actions.

One idol who recently gained praise for her response to a fan who was seen to be critiquing her is (G)I-DLE‘s Yuqi.

Since debuting, not only has Yuqi wowed with her amazing talent and visuals…

The idol has also made sure to interact with fans in any way possible and respond to their comments in various ways. In particular, the idol recently took to the social media site Weibo to interact with her Chinese fans.

In particular, the idol posted some stunning pictures of herself on the website. In the images, Yuqi looked absolutely gorgeous in a denim number with pale pink hair.

While most of the comments on Weibo were positive, and fans couldn’t stop praising Yuqi for her visuals, one seemingly caught the attention of netizens for apparently overstepping the mark. In the comment, the netizen seemed to be warning the idol about “showing too much skin” in the photos.

Baby! Aren’t you having a little bit of a wardrobe malfunction in pictures 3 and pic 5! Be extra careful when I’m not around. There are many old perverts out there who are craving your body! Heheh

Although the comment might not have directly been criticizing the idol, just saying it looked like a wardrobe malfunction and warning her about the outfits, many netizens didn’t like the wording.

Rather than take the comment or ignore it, Yuqi gained praise for her response to the netizen, explaining that the outlook on idols wearing “revealing” clothes aren’t negative and educating the fan.

Nope, this is a prejudice baby. Girls wearing short skirts, showing a little (skin) etc doesn’t mean it is too revealing.

If you think you are pretty and satisfied, it is already good enough. Do not care about what others say. We wear pretty clothes and put up pretty makeup to make ourselves prettier and become confident. Just be yourself and be happy.

Unsurprisingly, in the world of K-Pop, many assume that the way idols dress is always to please netizens and that anything revealing could be seen as negatively attracting attention.

Yet, Yuqi’s response hit out at that assumption, sharing the idea that women dress up for themselves and to feel confident rather than for anyone else. Yuqi has always shined in her outfits, and the fact it’s done for self-love and to showcase her confidence should be praised even more.

In a world where idols are sometimes objectified for their looks, Yuqi has taken a stance showing that it is far from the case. It seems like idols have a choice in their clothing a lot of the time and dressing a certain way doesn’t mean you want attention but for personal satisfaction.
