The Suneung is Korea’s national college entrance exam and is considered the most important exam Koreans take in their lifetimes. Every year, it is held on the third Thursday of November, making this year’s exam date November 16.

Korea takes the Suneung very seriously and ensures that students are not distracted or disrupted on their way to the exam; employees start work late, businesses open later, and trading in stocks and foreign exchange is delayed.

Thursday was chosen as the ideal test day in 2006 to ensure that the test sheets were delivered safely on time at test sites, according to the Korea Institute of Curriculum and Evaluation (KICE).
