Girl Intentionally Grows Lumps On Her Face…For This Heartbreaking Reason
Xiao Yan from Guizhou, China was born with a large birthmark on her face, but because of her family’s poor circumstances, they were unable to have it removed until it was too late.
She grew up enduring strangers constantly staring and bullying from classmates, to the point where Yan’s mother begged the villagers to stop teasing her.
As a result, Yan grew up with a very low self-esteem and lived life with her head bowed.
When she became an adult, she visited a dermatologist last year to see if anything could be done about her birthmark.
The doctor diagnosed the birthmark to be congenital melanocytic nevus, a disease so rare that only 1 out of 50,000 people have it.
Those with this disease are five times more likely to be diagnosed with cancer than those without.
In order to get rid of the mark on her face, she had to grow new skin tissue and thus began to receive saline injections into four parts of her face as a treatment prescribed by her doctors.
For 10 months, Yan has received saline injections twice a week. As a result, large bumps grew at the four injection sites on her face.
If the four bumps on her face form into transplantable skin cells, then Yan will be able to receive surgery to remove the cysts and the birthmark.
She has been promised a “new face” at the end of the process.
So she continued to isolate herself and only leave the house with herself completely covered up.
In order to support Yan’s expensive surgery fee, those who heard about her situation have collectively donated around 50,000 Yuan (~$7,914 USD).
