Girls’ Generation’s Taeyeon Reveals Their 14th Anniversary Was Celebrated Very Differently—Here’s Why

Their annual anniversary get-together this year was a much different affair than they’re used to!

On August 5, 2021, Girls’ Generation celebrated their anniversary as a group, 14 years after their debut in 2007!

Every year, the members get together to celebrate their anniversary, and as it falls just a few days after Tiffany‘s birthday (August 1), they end up combining two celebrations into one!

Last year, even with the COVID-19 pandemic, the members still managed to get together to celebrate their 13th anniversary and Tiffany’s 31st birthday!

This year, however, due to the rising cases in Korea, they couldn’t meet in person, and Taeyeon revealed that even though they were sad about being unable to meet, they enjoyed their new kind of party through a ZOOM meeting!

It was too bad because every year in August, we’d get festive… but this year, we couldn’t. Instead, we met up the way everyone meets up in a pandemic: on Zoom.

Bare-faced, with our hairs tied up in a bun, rocking our PJs! I guess, in a way, that felt special too… Celebrating and chatting the night away like that? It was a meaningful time.

Reflecting over their 14 years together as a group, Taeyeon talked about the many things they’ve done and achieved, but said that they’ve still got a long way to go!

We’ve been to so many places, left behind so many things… Done so much too. We look back on some of those things and think, ‘How on earth did we pull that off?’

Anyway, we still feel responsible and like we have a long way to go!
