Girls’ Generation are making their long-awaited comeback after five years, and it’s already been full of both touching and chaotic moments as the members get real about their experiences together. In a recent interview with Rolling Stone the members discussed everything from new paths they’re taking in their careers to the advice they’d give to new groups.

Given their experience and their status as industry legends, journalist Kristine Kwak asked the members if there are any new groups that have caught their attention, or if anyone reminds them of themselves.

Are there any new groups that you’ve been keeping up with regularly? Or are there any instances where you see someone who is newer to the industry that reminds you of how you were?

Sunny explained that, personally, she had not gotten close with any of the girl groups from newer generations. Yet, she expressed her heartfelt support for them all, promising to be there when she is needed.

Whenever I see younger girl groups, I feel very proud of them, yet at the same time I wonder if there’s anything that I can do for them. I don’t want to be too nosy, so I try not to approach them first, but I hope they know that I’m always watching from afar with open arms, so if you ever need something, please don’t hesitate to reach out!

Hyoyeon, however, had a definite answer. After having worked with aespa’s Winter and Karina in SM Entertainment‘s GOT the Beat (a collaborative unit that also included Taeyeon, BoA, and Red Velvet‘s Seulgi and Wendy), Hyoyeon became personally interested in aespa.

I got to work with Karina and Winter of Aespa as part of GOT the beat, so I’ve been keeping an eye on them. It’s great to see them promoting overseas as well.

Tiffany, had to agree, also professing herself to be a fan of aespa, even claiming that she’s derived a lot of joy from watching their work.

I’ve also been keeping my eye on aespa! It’s been a joy to watch and learn their productions visually and musically.

However, perhaps no one had words as warm as Taeyeon’s. Taeyeon gushed about aespa, saying that the younger group actually reminds her of her and her members when they first debuted.

I also really truly do like Aespa. I’m watching their promotions closely. Also, when I see new groups, the freshness they have is so similar to how we were when Girls’ Generation first debuted. The no-makeup looks with the plain hair, it makes me think of Girls’ Generation.

It’s always encouraging to see how supportive Girls’ Generation are of their juniors in the industry. They are proving themselves to be true idols by being a wholesome source of guidance and support!

This is not the first time Girls’ Generation, and especially Taeyeon, show love for aespa. Read further about it on the link below!
