Broadcaster Hong Seok Chun shared the news of his daughter’s wedding, expressing his excitement as a soon-to-be father-in-law.
In a video released on the 26th on KBS’s YouTube channel, Hong Seok Chun opened up about a new reality as a parent, saying, “I’m no longer raising kids, but now I have concerns about employment and marriage.”
Hong Seok Chun revealed, “I only just learned that you have to book wedding venues a year in advance,” and shared, “My daughter brought up the topic of marriage first and asked how many guests I thought would come.” Hong asked, “At my birthday party, 300 people show up—so how many do you think would come to my daughter’s wedding?” Fellow cast members chimed in, “At least a thousand,” praising Hong’s wide circle of acquaintances.
What caught the most attention was Hong’s cool appraisal of his future son-in-law. When asked about his criteria, he surprisingly responded, “I’m glad he has a full head of hair,” which elicited laughter. He continued, “He’s from Busan and very charming,” showing his affection for the groom.
Regarding the formal meeting between families, he said, “We haven’t done it yet,” but added fondly, “My daughter is very popular with elders,” offering a subtle boast that warmed the atmosphere.
Previously, Hong Seok Chun adopted the two children of his older sister, who divorced in 2008, raising them as a devoted father. Having protected his children against societal prejudice, his sharing of his daughter’s wedding news has brought an outpouring of public congratulations.
